Our Leak Investigation Process

Our engineers carried out a full leak detection survey, including a water meter test and pressure testing of the internal hot and cold-water systems. The water meter remained static and the pressure test confirmed there were no leaks present on the mains water supply.

To investigate further, a dye test was conducted on the kitchen waste system. During testing, a leak was identified at a waste connection beneath the kitchen sink. The defect was demonstrated to the customer and suspected to be the source of moisture affecting the flooring.

The vinyl flooring was then lifted to inspect the concrete subfloor. Moisture patterns indicated water was travelling from beneath the kitchen units and spreading across the floor surface. Once exposed, the concrete began drying, confirming the issue was caused by a surface leak rather than groundwater or a buried pipe leak.

FINDINGS

After taking the time to investigate the property we discovered the following:

Outcome

Leak Detection 24/7 recommended repairing the defective kitchen waste connection, allowing the affected flooring and concrete subfloor to dry fully before reinstatement works were carried out.
